  1. 1. ’39 by Queen. Written by that space freak BM – its about a guy who goes off in a silver spaceship and travels for a year, only to realise that the earth is 100 years older. Theory of relativity distilled for the masses!!! See if you can find the Live version from the last tour – Bri gives a little explanation of it before launching into the 12 string acoustic.

    2. Starfleet by Brian May. From early 80’s his mini album “Starfleet”, this is Bri’s interpretation of a Japanese cartoon. Essentially him riffing for 8 mins – perfection!!!

    3. James Taylor – the song he sings to the astronauts in the Simpson’s episode: “Deep Space Homer”. “You’re gonna float there, and enjoy it”!!!

    4. Across the Universe by The Beatles

    5. Rocket Man by Elton John

  2. I am purposefully going to avoid any Bowie tunes just because I gonna give it a whirl without, though its Bowie! and who doesn’t love Bowie? Still, there’s NO BETTER space tune than my #1 pick–though the “space” in this case isn’t really interplanetary travel but more like, um, a trip via a few illicit concoctions. Yep, drugs.

    5. Air: Kelly Watch the Stars
    4. The Byrds: 8 Miles High
    3. The Carpenters: Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft
    2. Kraftwerk: Spacelab
    1. The Only Ones: Another Girl, Another Planet.

  5. Good space-related songs:
    Elton John – Rocketman
    Kanye West – Spaceship
    Oasis – D’ya Wanna Be A Spaceman
John Williams – The Star Wars Theme
    Van Morrison : Moon Dance

    Bad space-related songs:
Boyzone – Shooting Star (From the Hercules OST)
Zig & Zag – Alien Skateboarder From Outer Space
    Babylon Zoo – Spaceman
Leonard Nimoy- Music To Watch The Space Girls By
Afrika Bambaataa & The Soul Sonic Force – Planet Rock

My taste in music is a bit weird. As I’ve just proved when I found out that I have the Hercules soundtrack for some reason.
